The Dhampus Australian Camp trek (also known as the Sarangkot Trekking) is one of the most popular short trekking destinations in the Annapurna Region. The trail passes through villages that are densely populated by mid-hill tribes; the Gurungs. Hence, the trek gives you ample opportunity to experience the local culture and learn the tradition of the Gurung Community. 

Dhampus is the best point to view the Fishtail Mountain, the Annapurna Range, and the Dhaulagiri mountain. Located in the Annapurna region, the trek can also start from Phedi, which is an hour away from Pokhara. While you stay at Sarangkot, you can experience the thrilling activity of paragliding soaring through the clear blue skies.

1Day

Drive from Pokhara - Phedi.

Our trek starts from Phedi which is located at a distance of an hour’s drive from Pokhara. Phedi lies in the middle of the mountains in the Khotang district. A small village where around 750 families reside, will be our spot for the night.

2Day

Phedi - Dhampus - Australian Camp.

Our trek starts from Phedi to Dhampus. The hike to Dhampus from Phedi is roughly 4 hours. Dhampus is located in the Kaski district and is famous for the beautiful views of the Annapurna Range. You will not just love the view but will also get a good capture of some real Nepal photography from forests with an abundant flora, classic mountain view, typical Nepalese lifestyle, culture and tradition of Gurung people. As we move forward, we take a leisurely walk towards the Australian Camp which is roughly 6 hours from Dhampus. We spend the night in a tent in the Australian Camp.

3Day

Australian Camp - Kande - Drive to Pokhara.

The hike from the camp to Kande is roughly about 2 hours. Very impressive views of Annapurna Range including the Fishtail, Annapurna South Hiuchuli, Annapurna II and IV and Lamjung Himal, etc are the main attraction of the hike. As we reach Kande, we rest for a while and drive back to the city of the lakes and end our trek.

  • Extra night accommodation in Kathmandu because of early from mountain or late departure.

  • Tips for trekking staff & driver (tipping is expected).
